MASTER CLASS

Innovating with Big Data

Lorena Escandon

Assistant Professor, School of Creative Industries, Ryerson University, Toronto

Christophe Lecante

President and founder of TKM, Developer of innovations, Grenoble-Paris-Montréal

Date: Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 9:30 am to 4:45 pm.

Lieu: Louis-Laberge room (1st floor, red section), HEC Montréal

We have entered the era of massive data. How to apprehend it? Artificial intelligence is experiencing unprecedented growth. Myth or reality? What impact on our working methods and innovation strategies?

The aim of this master class is to understand and build together answers on the consequences of these profound changes in terms of methods of creativity and innovation.

Through practical situations, we invite you to experiment with new research and idea generation tools and to measure their impact using concrete cases.

The morning session will be devoted to a theoretical contribution in three stages:

  • State of the art: Massive data technologies and artificial intelligence;
  • A focus on a specific type of data: the scientific and industrial literature;
  • Case studies: to illustrate the use of these data for strategic purposes (success and failure)

The afternoon session will be dedicated to practice and you will be able to experience for yourself the relevance and impact of tools and methods directly derived from big data, generating innovative solutions. These workshops will be structured around two themes directly related to Montreal’s innovative ecosystem:

  • The plane and airport of the future;
  • Sustainable mobility in urban centers.

This master class is for everyone who wants to:

  1. demystify and understand the phenomenon of massive data;
  2. identify the possible impacts and opportunities on their organization;
  3. practice and manipulate massive analysis tools on concrete cases.
